How I Got Here...

I'm a husband and dad first, but I spend my days helping solve problems for users and drive business outcomes with JavaScript.

I've spent the last 15 years as a professional software developer, but before that, I was a sports journalist and writer. My journey to software development began in late 2010, when I cobbled together just enough JavaScript (thanks Stack Overflow!) to dynamically load and create HTML baseball box scores using XML data.

Just like that, I was hooked!

By 2012, I learned enough to make it as a full-time developer. Since taking that leap, I helped one of the country's biggest college athletic departments streamline operations by building custom internal utilities and connect with fans and students through fully native and web experiences.

For the last four years, I've been with a major fintech company that helps its clients get out of debt. I'm working on a React-based dashboard app used by tens of thousands of clients a month, and since July 2024, I've served as my team's tech lead.

In the past, I've worked for a late-stage startup that was acquired by a Fortune 500 company, took a brief detour into data-science and ETLs using Python, and spent a quick stink as a founding engineer on a collaboration tool for digital designers built with Remix.

I love making things, and I especially love making things with kind, empathetic people who love to learn.
